You know my opinions on Brown and his writing inability but:
I'm inclined to agree with the notion that Brown is the author of this mess: it's full of falsehoods, mistakes, cardboard characters, telling and not showing, repetitive junk, and not an English lesson learned on any page.
Obviously he didn't want to write a new Langdon brick in the meantime and his publishers wanted a book to put out but, since a second Brown would annoy the market for the paperback release of The Da Vinci Code, it makes sense to put out a new one under a false name.
Also, for those that hated The Da Vinci Code and vowed never to read Brown again, they have the advantage of books by Brown under a different name which means those people may part with their cash again.
