In my opinion... It's difficult to discern at times when a religion becomes like a science, and a science becomes a religion?

It's easy to tell religion from science. Religion demands that you stop thinking for yourself about the great questions of existance, and asserts itself as a monetary and political parasite middleman between you and all those questions and answers. Religion provides the charade that it offers spiritual experience and spiritual wisdom, but it provides neither. Spiritual experience and spiritual wisdom are not owned, created or directly experienced through religion. Learning stops, freedom and liberty stop, creativity stops, evil proliferates and passionate ignorance is the crowd-controlling servant of the power elite.
Science seeks to learn constantly by setting up objective and direct inquiry into the reality around us. Science is always willing to discover that paradigms, information and ideas change as learning proceeds. While the strength of science is its ability to break down large issues into testable and researchable components, its weakness is that such breaking of things down into component parts can blind it sometimes to larger, more panoramic, unified and spiritual concerns. However, a truly talented scientist not being manipulated by money or politics will understand this and try to reflect upon the larger issues and implications. There are many many scientists who have become great authors and thinkers for having taken on the greater issues, the great connecting questions that connect the information science finds in parts. The 20th Century provided a long list of such author/scientists, and it continues.
That's why science profides advances in learning and religion provides sick warped minds in robes molesting children.

Note that Picknett and Price are releasing their next book in November, "The Masks of Christ", which will presumably be, from what their website indicates, an expansion and rounding off of major themes relevant to The Davinci Code and related issues.
Getting back to the original question starting this thread, I suggest to toss religion. Humans have a long list of alternate and healthy systems of spiritual experience, spiritual wisdom and spiritual guidance, none of which would classify as standard religion.
