A hilarious email that was sent to us anonymously. It really did come from Spain. And sorry, person in Spain, we don't have any contact with Dan Brown, so we can't tell him you don't want him there.

Quote:

DAN BROWN IS A STUPID CLOWN. Why the hell HE LIES about SPAIN in his last novel "Digital Fortress"??!!!. I know this is not the site to make contact with him but I just want to express my repulse to that miserable bastard. He LIES AND LIES ABOUT SPAIN. We are scandalized about what he says. It is like saying that Dan Brown is a black man from Nigeria. The same stupidities I can say. In Spain he is not wellcomed. I hope you never come to Spain in your life stupid bastard. Your books will never been read again in Spain and you will never be well received here.

Can I say this man is a real big catholic ?
Or just a man who don't want other opinion and think the own opinion is in the Bible and in his mouth ?

Is it the same thing ?

i doubt it's religiously motivated, since the only book he (she?) mentions is "Digital Fortress". Who knows? lol.

I have no idea what the motivation is, as Digital Fortress is the only Dan Brown book I haven't read. Mudpuppy read it, so I figured that's 50% of our household and she's the actual webmaster. I may read it...or not.

I just thought the email was hilarious. We also got one where someone wanted to sell us (or Dan Brown?) an original Da Vinci painting. Yeah, let me get my spare millions off the money tree in the back yard.

I worried about buying Digital Fortress.

I can only asume if your background is in geology, or meteorology that Deception Point has a few technical failing, or that as a physicist Angels and Demons pushes the envelope a bit, bit I enjoyed them all the same

But Digital Fortress, with 14 years IT experience, it was so obvioulsy written with basic or minimal research in some places. I can alomost here the conversation. As an expert witness once in a court case regarding CPU specification, trying to explain anything technical in lay terms is not easy.

Dan Browne:" So you're saying that computers can overheat"

Expert:" Well, yes I guess they could, although it doesn't happen very often"

Dan:" No, thats even better, great, and if a computer overheats, your program will abort, right"

Expert:" Well yeah, chances are everything will crash"

Dan:" Crash, what a cool word, I like that, and how do you find out why it overheated"

Expert:" You usually get some kind of a diagnostic POST error, y'know, Power On System Test"

Dan:" Cool, so a PC can overheat, which will cause a program to crash, and you get a code that tells you why, Hmm, how can I use that in my book..."

Expert:" (Under his breath) What a schmuck"

What get's me most is that the most intelegent people in the world have to look up Error 22 in a manual to find that somebody manually aborted a tracer run, and that error 22 is a hardware error, even tho she wrote the tracer code herself, so whatever error code it would give would surely be a software code that she knew anyway, and why would the NSA use a 5 digit password internally that they never changed...

The weaknesses that needed to be introduced to be exploited were incredolous.

When was the last time anybody was let loose witha soldering iron inside a computer, ITIL would have a field day...

3 - Spain is far more advanced in medical care then must of USA states.
