Another scenario may be that Dulles merely set Henry Wallace up to take the fall, not being 'tipped off' at all directly by Wallace, as could be implied. After all, earlier in Nazis in the attic (part 3), Randy Davis shows us that:

A NYTimes report shows that no autopsy was ever performed on FDR,
