This small book End Time Delusions
http://www.endtimeinsights.com/site/v2_3/content/view/2/1/
makes the case that the end times eschatology of Christianity currently in vogue, the Left Behind series of novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry and Jerry Jenkins
http://www.leftbehind.com/
is an incorrect reading of scripture. This eschatological view was promoted by the Jesuits, especially Francisco Ribera, in the Counter-Reformation to combat the Lutheran view that the papacy was an 'anti-christ'. In order to point the finger elsewhere, the Catholic church promoted a 'futurist' view, with an anti-christ to come in the future with a Third Temple in Jerusalem etc and a secret rapture.
Wolhberg's book pretty much dispels this eschatological view and posits the 'historicist' view. Another view, called "preterism" was also used by the Catholic church to posit that Nero was the anti-christ.

Hi EV Debs,
Interesting links, if you are 'away with the fairies' as we say here, in the Highlands. Yes, another MacDonald appears on the eschatological radar! Gosh, who the hell reads this stuff...in contradistinction to Dan Brown, of course? Then there is that magical number "42", I have the book, the film, and the Tee-shirt! Did Ormus's psy-ops programme have a pay-off? Watch this space. Rosey

If you're in the Highlands I'll bet you're smoking too much ganga.
