"Holy Blood, Holy Grail" is a very well researched book. The authors are definetly confident in their research. This is both good and bad. The authors are so confident in their research in that they sometimes have trouble explaining their conclusions. However, you can still get through the book with a general understanding through the heaviness. I am currently reading "The Templar Revelation" and it is a good brush up of all the theories revealed in "Holy Blood, Holy Grail." HBHG was a very thought provoking read, however, the only thing that gets me, is the fact that both books rely heavily on the "secret dossiers" and the sketchy history of the priory of sion. They are both interesting and enteraining reads, a good adendum to "Da Vinci Code," however there is no smoking gun that really connects all the theories.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the guy who first claimed that the Priory existed (Pierre Plantard) admit it was a hoax over ten years ago?

I believe so, yes.
though I am still not sure about the Dossiers, whether he was connected with them or not.

I found this :
http://priory-of-sion.com/psp/id84.html

It says Plantard invented the whole thing and faked the "Dossiers".

I saw a docymentry about DVC where they were talking about this book and as I understand it DB built some of his theories around it. But one of the authors denied that the Priory of sion was real, they had just made them up?
