Well, I have been to the Louvre a few times. All of those visits were prioer to the Da Vinci Code being published. I know people who have studed art at L'Ecole du Louvre, and who viewed as a valuable experience.
In any case, I actually don't see why it's a bad thing to be inspired to visit a place from reading a book. Seems a valid reason to me.

I agree with both Dazzle and Remarkable.
Many people will be inspired by the Da Vinci Code and go and visit the Louvre for the first time. Some of these people will take a genuine interest in the stunning amount and quality of art exposed there. Some others will just be happy with visiting the spots mentioned in the book - either way, I think it will be a positive and enriching experience.

I wanted to and did visit the Louvre before I ever heard of DVC. Reading it did make me want to take a second look at a few things, but that does not mean I have any intention of skipping the rest.

I agree with Ms Vetra. Does that mean I have to agree with Dazzle too?

Hello, Members!
I am very glad to join you in Japan! Here is a very intersting place to visit within Asia.
http://www.miho.or.jp/english/
The museum is designed and constructed by I. M. Pei as below.
"Eighty percent of the museum's structure is beneath the earth so as to preserve its natural environment and to assimilate it into the surrounding scenery. This unique design clearly demonstrates the intention of its designer, I. M. Pei, to create a paradise on earth. When he first visited the site, he was moved to declare, "This is Shangri-La."
However, seems this museum is related Japanese religion. Though I would like to visit to I,M. Pei's work myself, anyway:-)

When I see tourists who visit the Louvre in just one hour, I ask me what they think ! "We saw La Joconde, we can to go away !"
I vistited the Louvre many time, during many days, and I didn't see what I wanted to see !
And, just a question to americans : why do you love our Paris and the Tour Eiffel ? Everybody who live in Paris want to leave the city when they can. I think at this new movie "Paris, je t'aime", whith many americans actors. Why do you love Paris and France ?

Becuase it's pretty. There's cool stuff like the Arc de Triomphe (though I don't care too much for the really overpriced Eiffel Tower) and better food than in the US. Oh, and shopping on Champs Elysees (though I can't afford that either!)
