I am very pleased to read such words. Thanks a lot! Thank all of you!
I studied English at the school and at the university. But I took a great interest in it when I became a post-graduate several years ago. At that time I saw the unadopted texts and understood my English wasn’t as good as I had thought. And I decided to continue studying English on my own. I like to understand something without a translator. Now I can read and write. But I have not practice in listening and speaking English. Sometimes I don’t understand abbreviation or specific expressions like idioms. And sometimes I need to consult dictionary on meaning of every third word. So I still haven’t posted in the long threads. To tell the truth I sometimes spent several hours to create one of my first posts. But it becomes easier time after time.

That's so cool. I'm envious.

Don't worry, Cornflower, your English is good. And practice does make perfect!

I was considered to write poetry several years ago. Perhaps I’ll return to it and make a literary translation.
There is one thing I can’t understand. Is our planet very big or very small? On the one side it is big. Look at the variety of flora and fauna, landscape and climatic differences. Somewhere it is hot now. And it was snowing several times in this may in my town. Look at the great number of countries, social and beliefs systems. People live on the different continents, speak different languages and belong to different cultures… On the other side sometimes it seems the distances are not so great. Modern trains and airplanes can bring us far away rather quickly (if we have enough money). Television shows us beautiful sights of the cities and the nature. And we simply can contact to people living on another continent via Internet. It is wonderful.
