In The Da Vinci Code Dan Brown opens up with a loose start that remains untied in that we never know how Teabing knew about Sauniere et al. He should, of course, have explained this - especially if he was going to explain every other thing that popped into his head, and every little history - no matter how irrelevant. From what I've read The Da Vinci Code would appear to be almost a carbon copy of the former Langdon novel. A third would be terrible.
