LOL! Now that would be funny. Perhaps you would, though, to protest oil drilling in Alaska or rising manure prices! But then, political fantatics got to some crazy lengths as well, I guess gardening just isn't taken as seriously. Perhaps this is because you don't have to convince other people of your ideas in gardening, but in (some) religions and in politics, you do.

You know what... you're totaly right. I never really thought about it that way. You don't see wrestling fanatics or gaming fanatics running around blowing there enemies to pieces (in real life anyway). Nice Point!

I think that the problem is that there is so much ignorance and fear that they are dangerous domination tools. Some people need religion to find some sense to their lives and they accept everything without questioning and the same happens lots of times with science.

Religion and Science are very similar in that reguard. Really, science is a form of religion. Personally, i think everyone is too stubborn, on both sdies of the arguement. Lets all just get along

Sounds good to me! I think that that was an interesting point, about science being the same as religion however, I doubt that. At least science offers SOME proof for its assertions, (though you have to be a scientists to understand any of it, I think! Its like saying that there is proof for some religion, but only a priest can understand it. defeats the purpose, then, doesn't it?)

Well...technically, we can't be without science, because it's not a human invention. And, despite the fact we'd be a more peaceful humanity if it weren't for religion, I just think it's against human nature not to have some kind of belief in a divine who makes our laws for living.

A law is something that is made to keep peace. If you break the law, you are supposed to be punished. The Christanity version of punishment is Hell. If the way of life outlined in the bible was a law, we would all be condemend so far into hell that there would not be a point in trying to be good. Life is very easy to imagine without organized religion. Humans did it for ages and were pretty well off. Now, of course, they didn't have the technology we have today so who knows how it would effect modern life.

I could not imagine living in a world without science, in fact, I doubt we would exist without science. About the only good thing I can say about religion is that it keeps the population down, without religion there would be no wars. Religion exists to maintain power over the people, I think we'd do just fine without it.

We perceive science today as our daily comforts. And religion… that didn’t turn out to well… I cannot say I am a religious person per say, I go to church one night a year and even then I don’t go in… But I go, because it is tradition, because I was taught to bring “light” into my home at Easter time. Because of tradition, when March 1st rolls around I wear a little thing called Martisor… it’s a Romanian thing… very old rite, one could call it pagan. Does it make me one? I don’t really think so… Just as going to church once a year doesn’t make me religious person. But maybe both give me… let’s call it “spiritual food”… although, for the record, I include in this category arts too. When religion first appeared in our history, it was much simpler and basically for people to give thanks to something or blame it on… But science was right behind it! The discovery of how to make fire… well, that took a lot of tries and that process evolved with time. Maybe they do go hand in hand. People wanted to make what “gods” made… But in today’s world… fanatic is the name of religion almost everywhere, simple mind does not exist, we are all mesmerized by technology. Science always wanted to break away from it’s sister, religion… but we have to face it, they are Yin and Yang: religion controls (it had to evolve somehow… not a desired effect, but “cujus regio, ejus religio”) and science comforts (and I mean through history, discoveries, exploring etc…) Maybe I’m wrong… but I like to think they (R&S) coexist…
