I can't not quote this.... "Wine is strong, the King is stronger, women are strongest, but TRUTH conquers all." (inscription in the Rosslyn Church.)

Everyone in here is probably "certain" of their own beliefs, which may or may not be yours.

I'm not trying to impede on anyone. I'm just posing the idea, what if science and religion are related? Or go hand in hand? And that IF the big bang theory is true (or other popular theories; first one that came to mind), it's scientifically innacurate, because matter cannot come from no where. Scientifically stating, there has to be a beginning to everything physical in nature, requiring this universe, time, place, galaxy, even the two entities that banged together to have a definite beginning. While not wanting to start a creation - evolution debate, I'm just curious to why these two things, religion and science, always seem like they're against each other. TRUTH

Why would there be chaos without religion? Methinks there's chaos BECAUSE there's religion.

Religion does not cause chaos. People cause chaos. You can always point fingers at religion, but the simple fact is is that people do dumb stuff to themselves and people around them. Religion does not make people steal/kill/rape/lie etc...

There is only one thing wrong with what you are saying truth... there has not been any evidence that religion and science DO go hand in hand. I think if the catholic church did not oppose science so much, we could actaully have some answers to all of this.

I dunno, look around these days. What do you think has caused all the bombings, atheism? The Crusaders, Hitler, the IRA, al-Qaeda, et al - what do these groups have in common, you know, besides violence? Oh yeah, religion.

Radical beliefs, yes, but I think blaming religion is using a "straw man" argument. Not all religions are violent--in fact, almost none are. it's the fanatcs who go too far that are a problem.

We only hear about the radical ones. The general 99 percent are perfectly peaceful

Yes, it's the fanatics...the religious fanatics. You don't see gardening fanatics strapping bombs to themselves.
