Dan says... (if it is such that the guy who contacted me saying that he is Dan Brown, is Dan Borwn (i've no reason to doubt the fact)) that it's a story about, or in part with subject matter regarding, or pertaining to; satanists...

Nice name, as I was just reading Gary Osborn's article about the significance of the "RU" in our language http://www.freewebs.com/garyosborn/thegateofgod.htm (this should be important to all RUssians...)
Your talisman has indeed wet my appetite, and I'd like to get a clearer idea of what you mean by it. Meanwhile, for what it's worth, let me take a quick stab at the symbolism. This is mostly from von Papus' "Ceremonial Magic", which I happen to have here.
As far as I could see, this is a talisman used either as a general Protection against Magic or for increasing one's abilities to seek All-Encompassing Wisdom. The surrounding band pictures the Seven Celestial Bodies (five planets, Sun and Moon) surmounted by Solomon's Hexagram. The Eight are seen as a "closed system" in many traditions, and hence the state of ultimate protection from which to seek the wisdom.
Inside the inner circle we see the Kabbalistic magic-square of Saturn on the bottom, and on top is the alchemical symbol for the Spirit of Jupiter, with variuos titles of the "Biblical God" written around (such as "Aba" which means "father", and "Ehie" which has been translated as "I am" and this is how Jehovah identified himself to Moses from the burning bush in Exodus 3:14- "tell them Ehie sent you".) The cross in the middle is the convoluted path whereby the spiritual Jupiter rules over the carnal Saturn.
The bottom glyph is the signature of the entity Samael, identified with Mars and often with Satan himself. His placement on the bottom here would indicate a victory of the "higher" virtues. The glyph to the left of the Magic Square (on the right as you look at it) is the "Good Angel" of the Sun, used for "positive" spells in White Magic. The formula on the right, which is based on the feminine number 5, most likely pertains to the Moon. Thus we have a correct placement assosciating the attributes of these bodies with the male-female (left-right) halves of our brain.
Put together, we have basically all the planetary aspects embodied here, which would make this an "over-all" amulet, which is why I say "all-encompassing wisdom". Can't say I'm entirely sure about that though.
So, I hope you enjoyed these musings, and now let's hear how you feel this is connected to the "satanists". Just remember, tomorrow is 6/6/06, haha!

superb! I must say, damned superb! well defined.
but...

which is almost identicle (when scribed in a space where you can stretch the signature to it's true form) to the signature glyph of Gabriel/Gabrielle - The Arch Angel. It may be that the glyph is compressed for this talisman due to lack of space below? If this was the case, it would not signify an empathy towards war, but a brothely, and sisterly love between faiths?
You can also read more on this talisman in Eliphas Levi's - "Trancendental Magic, It's Doctrine and Ritual." and I don't feel that this key is in any way significant to satanists - and neither, for me, are any of Levi's writings. It is a talisman for all, and as you say, an "over-all".
The satanist part came from (a well respected author who is writing a book and asked my advice on satanism).. ahem.

What can I say Rus, you got me looking for that glyph for the past hour. As far as I can see it IS the Samael sigil, which looks very different from Gabriel's, so perhaps you have been misled about this. Where does Levi discuss this talisman in the "Transcendental Magic"? (I've just looked through and couldn't find it, the whole text is available online here: http://altreligion.about.com/library/texts/bl_transcendental.htm )
But anyway that's all moot, as I don't believe in the inherent power of any object aside from what you ascribe to it. Hopefully you don't either, and this talisman is just a nice curio. As for Satan - there is no Satan. God - yes, Satan - no. Very simple, but thanks to Zarathustra's misunderstanding of some Vedic doctrines, the whole thing got horribly confused in recent millenia.

Nice story, I can very much relate to your feelings that the E people rape the Great Mother by abusing the Energy. But if you've eaten a kilo of strychnine and an arsenic pill and survived - then you're an "X-Man", one of "them", hehehe. Just don't let a doctor see you...
The important thing I guess, is that feelings of hatred and "wrath" will get you little but same in return. Also, surely those who abuse Extasy deserve less reprimand than those who abuse Petroleum.

I thought that's what "Kyrus" probably meant (his actual name was "Koresh" in Aramaic, "Kiros" is the Greek and "Cyrus" the Latin versions) - but I went off on the Rus because you see I am in fact a Russian. By the way, "kyr" or "kir" in Modern Persian came to mean the vulgar word for "penis". That was one way to denigrate the Zoroastrians. Cyrus of course is revered in Judaism as the "liberator king" who set the Jews free of the Babylonian Captivity and permitted the building of the Second Temple.

Putting together everything you've written so far on this thread, are you saying that DB's next book will feature Satanists? Now THAT would be something to talk about here. Of course since we know that Freemasonry will be in there, Satanism could be easily woven in too, like from Robinson's "Born in Blood".

The key, in Levi's ritual is mentioned for The Ritual - that you should have it in your left hand whilst performing the ritual - I read this in the early part of the book, not sure exactly where... my copy is stuffed back in the bookshelf... Maybe I have read words which are not visible to others..? X-Men.. yes, something like that... it's a beast of a soul to carry but hey, it's a dirty job and someone has to do it. You'd have to see it to believe it. I manage to live with the knowledge but it has taken a few schizoid turns in getting this far...
I did go to a doctor once and when I told him that i'd been raped by two policemen, he misheard what I said "arse" for "mars" - "what are you saying, you have been to mars?" That's pretty much exactly the opposite of how I meant it. I'm strictly against the "eye for an eye" approach as used willfully by someone for revenge. If we don't get rid of it pronto, the human race has no hope for Ascension to the Next Stage of Consciousness.
I was only referring to an underlying rule of the Forces of Nature, namely that for every action there's a similar REaction. If you treat someone with "wrath", you can expect little but same in return, and feelings of "hatred" only breed more hatred in others. That's why the mystics have always called to concentrate on "positive thinking".

Why don't you just tell us what those armies were looking for in the Turko-Greek conflict on Cyprus in 1974. The lost legacy of the Danites, the grave of King Minos, remnants of Thera? It seemed like just another outbreak of ethnic strife, but who knows. As the poet said: "Fear the Greeks, even those who bear gifts."

Dude, I think you went off in an entirely unexpected direction here. Looks like you took my sad attempts at irony as some sort of personal put-downs. But I don't see how you expect people not to be somewhat ironic when you announce you're a time traveler and just leave it at that. Don't take it so hard.
It's good to hear you have your book for free online, it sounded like an offer to buy. I feel that free online books should be greatly encouraged these days.

I am honestly confused how the latter part of this thread has anything to do with dans new book. it seems to be more of a *nmy view of the world is better then you because someone claiming to be dan brown contacted me*
