Could we have that last post translated into English?

It's a step up.
Seriously though, there's a world of writing out there and it saddens me to see that people talk about re-reading pulp fiction when there's very little to take away from it. Sometimes, I feel, when they have read very little - so little as to say that Brown is a great writer - I honestly can't take their opinions on board with respect to what is good and bad.
Sadly there's so many great writers* out there who people don't give the time of day because they are only interested in the latest from John Grisham, Stephen King, Anne Rice, James Patterson, etc.
* Italo Calvino, Alan Hollinghurst, Kazuo Ishiguro, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, JG Ballard, Haruki Murakami, Jeffrey Eugenides, Jorge Luis Borges, and then new writers (at least to us) such as Khaled Hosseini, Ismail Kadare and the exceptionally different House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.

People do "get something out of fiction." While it is not a history book, they get something that economists would call "utility." People get their "utility" from different things. You might not like Dan Brown's books, but other do. Just the same way that you probably do not like the movies that I like; we have different tastes. That, to me, is what makes the world go round. Why does everyone have to be like YOU? Why do people, like yourself, feel the need to criticize everyone that is NOT LIKE YOU! Difference is ideal, as I would never want to be as close minded as yourself.
