I have read and the Da Vinci code and have just finished reading Angels and Demons and I was wondering what book to get next and I was thinking of getting Digital Fortress as I enjoyed trying to work out codes before they did in the last one but I have heard a few bad reviews of this book and was wondering if I should get it.

To be honest, if you have read Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, there is nothing to be gained from reading this one. It is virtually the same plot, with virtually the same characters, in virtual places. And there are no codes worth mentioning - even the one at the back was lousy.

I can't comment but I think you'll find that Dan Brown only has one plot formula which, aside from the names and places, makes each book identical.
Try someone else for a literary fix. Visit the Other Mysetery/Historical Fiction forum for a list of suggestions.

I heard horrible reviews of this book from various friends and family. I have read Angels & Demons, The DaVinci Code, and have just finished Deception Point, which was another amazing book. My opinion, skip Digital Fortress, straight to Deception Point.
However, if anyone can tell me anything worth reading about Digital Fortress, please do. Otherwise I am patiently (more so impatiently) waiting for The Solomon Key

Read James Bamford's non-fiction on the NSA like Puzzle Palace and Body of Secrets. Some of it reads better than fiction. Also, Blind Man's Bluff by Christopher Drew and Sherry Sontag is another non-fiction book on US submarine warfare that is a 'goodie'. You can't make up some of this stuff !

It's unjust to suggest that only Dan Brown books are the same. This argument could be ascribed to most fictional stories that have similar themes running through them. Ian Flemming's James Bond being a case in point.
I would suggest that if someone like DVC then by all means read the other novels as well. They're good, lighthearted entertainment and should essentially be treated as such.

Not on a Dan Brown forum, it's not. But, by your admission, you make me wonder why you would recommend reading the other three if all your getting is, to a degree, the same story with names and places changed.

I'm most likely not going to read any other book except Solomn Key, maybe because it might have a new plot set up. ''/

The same situation (as michelangelo) came to me. I've read the DVC and A&D too. but i'm so doubt on going to the next 2 books because i'm a blockhead in advanced tech, I don't understand those things too.. What i concern would be religious stuff, secrets, arts, histories.
Can anyone tells me what is about in the DP and DF? Thanks for helping..

I rate that book that is fair because if you knew the technology nowadays somewhat Dan Brown miss some point like those he said Hacking the Server. Well he make a good ending but some flow of his writing that ordinary readers can not detect. Well, how did I know? This is part of my world. http://isoscent.no-ip.biz.

I believe Digital Fortress is Brown's BEST WORK yet...It's amazing with twists and turns like non of his other books...Even if you are more into the religion like I am...Brown used his skills to produce an amazing cryptology book

I suppose Dan Brown never was at Seville, as he affirms, he knows really nothing about Spain and its people.I live in Seville since I was born, and I donīt recognize my own town reading this book.

NOOOOOO!!! Don't buy it, don't make Dan Brown richer by buying his novels. If you want to read them anyway, download them from Internet or borrow them from a friend. This novel is pure shit, he doesn't bother to make a research about the places, people or languages. There are too many mistakes about cryptography, the characteres are stereotypes, he offends Spanish people, specially people from Seville. Does he even know that Spain is a member of the UE, that La Giralda has not steps but ramps (how can a tourist die in it?, Isn't it more dangerous to jump from a helycopter 1000 feet above Rome, as the "hero" of Angels and Demons does?), or laughing until death by reading this pieces of garbage that he calls "books"? Mr. Brown, the Spanish health service is really good (you don't have to pay in case you need a trasplant, so go to Spain and maybe you can get a new brain). There are so many good and entertaining writers, but not so lucky as Mr. Brown...

if you enjoy the books, buy them. i think people get too worked up about some plot tidbits and how factual they are. Novels are, by definition, fiction.

Personally I think DF is Dan's worst. DP is interesting with the usual twists and turns, and like DVC and AaD moves along at a good pace. I couldn't get going with DF - maybe I'm not good enough at Maths!

Deception Point is realy boring if we compare with others books. For the moment, I can't read Digital Fortress, and my favorite book is Angels&Demons. That's not a boring book.

michelangelo i wouldn't bother with DP it doesn't make sense and is all over the place. DP may be very confusing but that is only because of the way its written and not what is written.

I think that this book is better than Da Vinci code, even it is not so famous. Story is I think more realistic, and it shows problems of digital age... I like it.
