Has it struck anyone as quite interesting that Dan Brown knows so much about the inner workings of Opus Dei, the Vatican, and about the Holy Grail?
I wonder where he gets his information from. Some of it is extraordinarily accurate.

No, I thought he made most of it up and "borrowed" from a critically panned book by three amateur historians that was laughed off by those in the know.

Ah Dazzle, but those who are popularly held to be "in the know" aren't always as knowledgeable as they would like to have others believe. Like your own eyes, sometimes theirs are blind to the truth. I'm sure you know this song...
They all laughed at Christopher Columbus
When he said the world was round
They all laughed when Edison recorded sound
They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother
When they said that man could fly
Rather than dismissing Dan Brown as a third-rate novelist, has it not occurred to you that he might be telling you something important?

He most certainly has told me something important. He said, "save your money and don't waste it on my books."
You say he seems to know plenty about Opus Dei. What does he know? The Holy Grail? What does he know? The Vatican? I was under the impression he had that wrong too.

While I didn't get the same message that Dazzle got from the books, I did read at least half of Brown's original sources. Its all in there.
I would agree with Dazzle about the three amateur historians--that was one of the worst-written proofs I have seen. They just repeatedly try and fail to make their point. And while I applaud their diligence in tracking down every name on that purported list of Grand Masters, their evidence in extremely shaky.

Dan Brown knows next to nothing about Opus Dei. He read one book about the Holy Grail. And as for the Vatican, he probably read their FAQ.

Yes it has, to me at least. But the controversy begins when good old Dan claims that all the art and historical facts in his books are actually non-fictional.
