Since they're making the Da Vinci Code movie first, what do you think they'll do with Angels & Demons? I see that they bought the rights so I'm sure they'll make one (assuming DVC does well, which I'm sure it will). They can of course make a prequel, but I personally wouldn't mind if they just pretended it happened later. What do you all think?

I guess it will be a prequel, as A&D is before DVC...but then, who knows......

I'm sure it will be like the James Bond Movies where they are just kind of independant from one an other. I doubt it will make a differance

LOL... another way it will be like Bond Movies is that there will be a new girl in each. That just hit me... thought it was funny

That's true! Lol. Let's hope these movies don't get as redundant though! "Langdon. Robert Langdon."

yup. almost all DB novels has the same structure yet ANGELS & DEMONS stood out because it got a BIGGER SCOPE.while DF and DVC were just about secrets known by a few and only influenced a few, A&D THOUGH not alll info were known, it involved MORE.... the whole WORLD for a fact.

Personally I think that the Da Vinci stood head and shoulders above Angels and Demons. Angels aand Demons as a film would border upon being Die Hard crossed with Indiana Jones!

Does anyone else think that Harrison Ford would make a better Robert Langdon than Tom Hanks? Tommy would be very good, but Mr. Ford just seems the perfect choice!!!

IMO tom hanks is more famous tan harrison ford and thats one way to sell a movie though the book itself is as famous as both actors.

Consider what the PTB have done with James Patterson's books. They made Kiss the Girls followed by Along Came A Spider when in fact the books were in the opposite order. In fact, Ashley Judd had been in talks to reprise her KTG role for ACAS, which makes no sense considering there isn't even a character like that in the story.

At least we are not being slammed with a movie based on a book that was written so they could make the movie...this happened a couple of years back to bring forward the second film of a now "completed" trilogy which was then followed by a remake of a movie based on the first book. Crazy order of things on film...
Book 1 (Made under a different title), Book 2, Book 3, Book 1 (Made with actual title)

A&D would make a fantastic film! I hope the inevitable success of DVC warrents the same filmmakers to take on A&D.

But, it would be good if Robert Langdon had a trademark cocktail, just as Bond does. Aha... I feel a new thread coming on...

so, what is Langdon's favorite cocktail?

hmmm... actually, in his case, we get one answer in A&D. Nestle chocolate milk.

I would prefer if A&D was made first. Although I enjoyed the Divinci Code my favourite book has to be A&D. Finding out about the Vaticans secrets and the supposed plight of the Illuminati!

I hope A&D will be made into a movie. I haven't read it yet, but now, i have enough time, so i think i'm gonna read it.
There was a rumor that said that Spielberg could direct A&D. But it's just a rumor. Not confirmed yet.
That would be great if he made it!
But what i want the most is Tom Hanks to be Langdon again. He's great as Langdon. And i wouldn't see anyone else.

Here's what i found :

Sony Eyeing Da Vinci Code Follow-Up

With Sony Pictures' The Da Vinci Code earning a massive $224 million worldwide its first weekend, Times Online is reporting that the studio is already looking towards a possible follow-up.

According to Jeff Blake, vice chairman of Sony Pictures, the studio is hoping to bring another novel by Dan Brown, Angels and Demons, to the big screen:

Tom Hanks could return to star as the Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who appeared in the book and will be the hero of Brown's next novel. Mr Blake said: "We are very interested in filming Angels and Demons. We hope that the relationship with Dan Brown will be a long one. That could be the next project."

I think Ron Howard and his prodution crew could find other locations to film this movie in Italy or Europe that should pass for Vatican City with out getting in trouble by the church..

Actually, i think they won't film in the Vatican. Sadly...

But, don't worry. I'm sure they will find another way. Thanks to computers and digital effects, they will have no problem to create the places.
You know, in the DVC (the film), when we see St Sulpice church, it is not the real St Sulpice churh. It was made thanks to digital technology. But it looks real! :-)

Columbia Pictures will shoot A&D next! new [Re: andrewdoane]
      #7790 - 05/24/06 06:08 AM

Columbia Pictures announced that Dan Brown's Angels & Demons will be made into a motion picture. They signed an agreement with Akiva Goldsman who also wrote the script for the Da Vinci Code movie. Goldsman also wrote the scripts for "Batman & Robin", "A Beautiful Mind", "Cinderalla Man" and won an Oscar for "A Beautiful Mind".

The working title will be "Angels". The studio hasn't signed with Hanks or Howard yet but they are the first one that the studio will invite to the new project. As you might remember back in 2003 when Columbia Pictures bought the film rights of the Da Vinci Code they also bought the rights of all Dan Brown novels (written or will be written) with Robert Langdon as the main character.

A&D has always been my favorite Dan Brown book. But I really would like to see how they'll manage to shoot this one in Vatican City. Unless they build a replica of the City in a sound stage

This sounds really promising. I think Angels & Demons would make a much better movie than DVC, since there's more room for action and stuff while still keeping the intellect and intrigue. I hope this works out.
