Would anyone be interested in joining the illuminati if they were given the opportunity?

first come up with a definition for the illuminati.
I am NOT interested in blowing up Vatican city or anything like that.

Hmmm. Possibly Dan Brown is an 'illuminati' being a fan of the works of Robert Anton Wilson, according to this article

Premature Illumination
http://www.metroactive.com/papers/cruz/08.10.05/wilson-0532.html

""Dan Brown has read all of Bob's books. But Bob doesn't really compromise his storytelling--not that Dan Brown does--but it's for a general audience, and Bob just doesn't go there.""

Take illumination whereever you can find it ! Personally, one of my favorite authors is Nobel prizewinner John Steinbeck, himself a Knight Templar and Freemason. Steinbeck makes the hero of 'The Winter of Our Discontent' reveal his Templar sword and uniform -- the hat and uniform nowadays looks similar to an early British Navy commander's.

In any event, Dan Brown would have a field day with his Solomon Key if he'd stick with what's real and verifiable rather than getting sidetracked, like he did with the fraudulent Priory of Sion stuff that destroys his credibility, at least for me.

I'm reading Digital Fortress right now and the book is pretty good so far; the pace is quick and the chapters are usually very brief.

Join the Illuminati ? Try self validation and become an 'auto-didactic' type. You'll get much better results in your life !

Minor nit-pick: he would be an Illuminatus; Illuminati is the plural form.

honestly i don't think dan brown is an illuminatus, for basically one simple point. the illuminati members of today focus on controling the world, so they are focused on bringing political and militaristic leaders to add to their numbers... dan brown is neither of these, he's mearly a novelist, therefor i'd say there's a .001 percent chance that dan brown is an illuminatus.

I would join the true enlightened ones; the scientists. Not the ones who want to do away with government. It kinda makes me wish science was outlawed still so I could join the true Illuminati...

The definition of the illuminati when originally formed was a Sect that would disprove the idea of fath (concetrating on the Christianity, but ultimatley all faiths) with the use of science. They were ultimatley scientists and non-religious philosophers. Acts of crimes (like blowing up the Vatican City) were not part of the bigger picture. This is a twist Dan Brown uses. World domination was also not the bigger picture.

As with most organizations there are splinter groups. Just look at the Palestinians. Not all members of the parent organization are violent. It's like saying all Germans were Nazis in WWII. That is not so. I think the basic premise that Illuminatus were intellectual is much closer to the truth than a world domination group. Domination can also be achieved through intellectual means rather than violent don't you believe?

Remember that the chamberlengo was using the brands not the real illuminati. So it doesn't mean that violence was their point.

Does anyone know if you can actually join the Illumnati? Like the Masons. Or are they the same group?!?!? My dad and his friends are masons, but they won't answer my questions with anything but "I don't know"

Most secret societies like the Illuminati or Skull and Bones come and find you based on who you are (family) or what you know (inlightenment). As far as the NWO comment, Adam Weishaupt's original idea was that the world would be run better if they were at the helm, even if that meant taking it in some underhanded way.

MUFC, your relitives should be able to talk to you about Masonry if they wish--why they aren't, I really don't know. If you wish to know more, email or msg me. Or ask here, if you want.

Folks, may I suggest you do some research on the Illuminati? The Illuminati was a splinter group off of a Bavarian Masonic lodge. A.W. was kicked out of his lodge once he was found out.

Secondly, may I ask how you know all these things, and yet say its secret? or you can find a way to join?

I do have to say, DB did pick a good one for his book. It also makes for a good conspiracy yarn. Just think, if DB knew so much about them...................could he BE one?

Actually, DB had a few things right about the OVERALL picture. The Ill. and Templars and Freemasons were, and in Freemasons case still are, condemed by the Catholic Church. I personnally believe DB is a Protestant, or maybe nothing at all religiously, who has done some studying.

Anywho, enjoy!

Societies can be secret and still leave traces of what has gone before. I will again site Skull and Bones (often known as the American Illuminati). Though the actual day to day rituals and what not are stuff of legend and cannot be determined as truth, Yale University does hold the register of members in their records dept. From looking at these it is not hard to see that the power within the US can find their way back to S&B (Bush Sr & Jr, Kerry, etc).

Bones men, as they are called, are supposed to leave the room if the group ever comes up in conversation. This is kind of hard for the president to do if he is asked on television, as he has been, but he does skirt around the subject and then moves on.

Not the best link but it does have many interesting points which are correct. The only way to know is to access the tomb.

Not much of what Weishaupt wrote remains so we get most of our information from those who were trying to denounce his ideas.

"...in order for a candidate to be admitted to the group, he has to make himself known to a Minerval who in turn reports the request to the council. After this, a certain amount of time passes during which the candidate is secretly observed. If he is deemed unfit, nothing more is made of his request; if on the other hand he is successful, he recieves an invitiation to attend a secret conference where he is admitted as a Novitiate"

-Proof of a Conspiracy Against All the Religions and Governments of the World...written in 1797 by John Robison

A Minerval was the more visible members.

Howdy, folks! tis my first post here, but I've just finished speed-reading through Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code, so here I am...
Personally, I'd love to join the Illuminati - but alas, I'm not enlightened enough... and, there's obviously the point that who knows if they even exist any more? All that can be turned up on them is ancient history, people that clearly aren't Illuminatus despite calling themselves it, or unproveable rumours.

Although, I think that if the Illuminati do still exist, they probably don't care about blowing up the Vatican, overthrowing religion or dominating the world - it was started as the search for truth, and to hide from the Church, not to conspire against it.

And anyway, I doubt that most of the Illuminati were even atheist - it seems to me, anyone that denies God's existance due to a lack of scientific proof should be agnostic, seeing as there's no proof that he doesn't exist either. In fact, I've recently started to think that the only proof that exists for or against, is Occam's Razor, but that can be twisted either way.

And also, the fact that numerous Illuminati were artists should be taken into account - the Vatican is too beautiful a city, in art and arcitecture, for any artist to want to destroy.....

Awwww, now Rosey, why did you have to go and give away our admission criteria like that? Pretty soon we'll be overwhelmed with the riff-raff, all wanting their own ambigram brands and drinking all our liquor. I tell you, you're going to have to answer for this at the next meeting...

Sephia and Arras

We've really gotta see if ECV will allow women in:

""By tradition, a man can only become a Clamper by invitation. However, one can express his desire to join. Initiation rites are sometimes spur-of-the-moment, such as forcing a blindfolded man to be lifted into the air by a block and tackle. Other times, the blindfolded initiate is seated upon a wet sponge in a wheelbarrow, and taken upon the Rocky Road to Dublin (a ladder lying on the ground). Once he has been forced to answer several questions, the Scales of Darkness (the blindfold) are removed, the new member is handed the Staff of Relief, is toasted with drink, and is appointed Chairman of the Most Important Committee.""

http://www.answers.com/topic/e-clampus-vitus

Sephia, would you like to join ? I sense a most excellent lawsuit of immense and epic proportions. Satisfactory !

Being a Novelist dosn't mean he couldn't be involved with the illuminati, novelists are powerful people, look are j.r.r.tolkien, his stories are world known. A book can influence people into making decisions and can bring about other oppurtunities, e.g. money

Hey! You who want joining to the Illuminati! For what really do you want it? Money? Treasure? Something else? Perhaps, idle curiosity moves you? Or you have true desire to serve the science and the enlightenment?

Answer the questions to yourself. Have you enough knowledge and bravery for joining the Illuminati? (If they still exist, of course). Can you keep secrets from your friends and families? Are you ready to work hard on the enlightenment purpose? And nobody will know about your good deeds. Why do you aspire to it?

I am sure everybody can be useful for the society and his or her country in the capacity of a citizen.

I am very contra science and as me father called me "conservative". When I finished school I want to become a minister. So...bad Illuminatus

There seems to be a lot of the "it'd be cool to be illuminati" sentiment going around these days. But what if there are no special rules to this "Illuminati" organization? What if everyone just decided on the level of their own involvement and what risks they were willing to take wouldn't it just be any other capitalist market place.

Good luck to all those willing to join. Hope you don't end up bottom feeders
