How can both be true?
      #426 - 01/07/04 08:19 AM

It said somewhere in Angels and Demons that no computer had ever been able to generate an Illuminati ambigram...but they have one in the book...how can this make sense?

Loving it so far (I'm on pg 287 in the paperback)but i must admit that (so far) I think Da Vinci code was better.

Simply because it appears in the book, which was typeset and printed using a computer, does not mean it was created by one. I can make an ambigram using PaintShop or some similar art program, but I'm doing the creating. I'm merely using a computer instead of paper and ink. What the book is saying, and I believe is probably true, is that there is no computer program that can create an ambigram from the raw input of a word or phrase.

That being said, ambigrams aren't nearly as shockingly complex as Brown makes them out to be. By the time Langdon recoils in awe at the sight of like the third one, I was laughing out loud. The man is a world-renowned symbologist! His reactions are like those of a special needs child being shown simple sleight-of-hand. But hey, an entertaining read, nonetheless, and educational one at that.

Actually, there is an ambigram computer program...it's listed in one of the other threads here.

Maybe I'm weird, but I thought that since a computer couldn't fo it, neither could a person. again, maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe, the book lies on one of the 2 points mentioned...all are equally plausible, I just wish I knew which one was true.

I agree with kryptos about this. The man who made the ambigrams is named John Langdon. this is his website http://www.johnlangdon.net/ He drew the ambigrams for Angels and Demons

It's saying that a computer can not make an ambigram, a person must do it first. And that ambigram computer program you spoke about acually is created by a person, someone drew up or created those letters first (quite basically too) and just saved the letters to a web site, and programed them to appear when the person typed them in.

The computer didn't actually create them ... a person did.

maybe at the time when the book was written it couldnt be done, but someone has since found a way to create a programme that can create them just by typing in the specific word you want?

Do the Illuminati ambigram stamps actually exist?

Its just part of the FICTIONAL PLOT of the book.
It gives justification of the so called comeback of the Illuminati as insisted by Langdon and Vittoria to the swiss guards
