Would you join?
      #1033 - 05/06/04 01:17 AM

If in fact the Illuminati were still in existance today or you lived in Rome during the time of Gallelo, would you have attempted to join with them or destroy them?

Since I would've been on the opposite side of the church, I imagine I would've wanted to join them.

The original illuminati, yes. Though not today. While I am pretty antagonistic towards most organized religions, I don't think blowing up churches is really the best way to get a point across.

Well, there were going to be limits to what I'd do, Sephia. Blowing up things isn't really what I'm into.

point taken, but wasn't that their goal, or at least, at one point in time, the goal of some of them???
Today, the question is largely academic anyways, since, in most cases, the Church's interference isn't too extensive.
Still, if I lived in Galileo's time, maybe I would enjoy a few plots like that...

This is a very interesting question. I would like to think I'd join, given my logical sense of thinking about science. But I wonder if I would've had the courage and strength to believe in the scientific data of the time especially in light of public opinion and certainly the beliefs of the majority.

What I'm saying is that today, with hindsight as my guide, it'd be a simpler decision.

I'm trying to think of an example today, where there is public opinion in one direction and scientific data that leads us elsewhere and I can't really come up with an example. Just to test myself.

Interesting...

I don't know about joining. I'm of the Vetra philosophy and feel that science and God both have a place. The true religion before Christianity was Judiaism, and then Christ came along. He practiced Judiaism and fulfilled their prophesy, but they didn't see it. Now, everyone doesn't have to, and may not agree with me, I'm just saying, I think I'd be like Vetra and the pope which was murdered by his chastely born son. BTW, the book I mentioned in another thread uses in vitro for monks too. I think it's a ripoff of Brown!

Quite an interesting question...

As things seem to be today, I believe the Illuminati are around, or at least a group with the same power and influence. And actually, my goal IS to join that group. Since the Illuminati filtered into the masons long ago, I thought the best place to start was there. While it may be a dead end, at this point I've nothing else to go on.

I have a friend who worked/works for the government, DoD and such and he has met people he "suspected" as being Illuminati, and he is a man of no small genius.

As for the New World Order, it seems that almost everyone wants to stop it, and while that may be the "noble" or "moral" thing to do, I would rather be on the winning team. And not so much that I'm scared, I would just rather live my life out the way I've planned. Being eliminated or enslaved by a group that I feel has almost the same views as myself isn't something I like.

And yes, I'm probably crazy. But just because your paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you.

I doubt anyone is after me, but a little paranoia isn't always a bad thing. My goal *would* be joining the Masons, but there's just one tiny little problem. I'm not male. So it's either the Co-Masons or some other group. ::sigh::

If you are related to anyone who was a Mason then you can join the Job's Daughters. They are basically the female offshoot of the Masons. My sister was into that for a while. I don't know what the requirements are other than having a relative being a Mason (my greatgrandfather, I believe) but I can find out pretty easily with a phone call.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Job's Daughters is for young women between 11 and 20.

There is the unisex Order of the Eastern Star that accepts male Masons and their female relatives.

That's good to know. I was never really involved with my sister and the whole Job's thing. She got mad when she would go to a meeting and I would tell her to have a good time at her Cult meeting.

I think I'd prefer joining the Masons-but I have the same problem-I'm female.

I don't think I'd join the Illuminati, but I'm not religious. I would probably just observe.

My uncle was a mason once, I'm not sure if he is anymore though.. But I'm not sure I would like to join even a female offshoot of a male orginization. It would be like being a nun, only I would not believe I was serving a greater purpose.

However, I would consider joining the Illuminati of Galileo's time, but not today. I don't see what the point really is anymore.

That is a good question. If I were alive around the time the Illuminati formed, and I had the same viewpoints as I had, even before reading this book, I would say yes. The only thing is, the Illuminati was comprised of some of the greatest minds for their time and I just don't fit into that category. That is unless my ability to recall the most trivial information and movie quotes makes me a great mind.
Im not too sure if I would join the later manifestations of it though, as they seemed to be a little darker and more willing to resort to more drastic tactics. Plus, I may not be religious myself, but I believe that every religion deserves to be practiced. Everyone needs some kind of faith, whether it be spiritual or otherwise.

To those of you concerned about religious implications, you will find in this article that all religions are accepted into the Freemasons and in some Lodges, its almost a must that you have some sort of spiritual grounding.

I would definately join the Illuminati - it is my ultimate mission to revive or join the society. I'm interested in all things scientific and finding out the truth about the universe etc. From what I have read, I think that the treatment scientists recieved from the church was disgraceful. The church had too much influence and dominance over teaching people the 'facts' of the universe. I think the Illuminati and everything surrounding it is very interesting.

Yep, definitely. In fact I found myself rooting for the Illuminati when I first started reading A&D instead of Robert Langdon & the Vatican! However, once the Hasassin was properly introduced this put me off a little.

Doesn't David Icke (UK sports commentator turned son-of-God) have all these conspiracy theories about the Illuminati today? Something about them being reptiles/lizards from the 9th dimension or other wacko stuff?

No, i dont think so. I hate math and science. I'm an artist, strictly and severely right-brained. It wouldnt have been possible.
I despise organized religion (more specifically the catholic church) , but theres nothing wrong with having faith in something.

YES, want to join the illuminati because it is the only thing i have ever
dreamt of since i was a child. I mean i did'nt know about the
illuminati but i have always thought that there should be no nations
only one world. I don't know what inspired me, but now that i have
actually found a way i will do anything to be a part of it. All these
things kept happening to me and now that i realise they were actually
hints. I always wanted to be a scientist and astronomer, everyone
around me was religious...i tried but never could believe in religion
or god. My life would get a meaning and i can do anything to be a part
of it. I firmly believe in three sayings.

Religion is the opium for the masses. (Karl Marx)

The end justifies the means.

So dark the con of man. (Priory of sun)

Give me a chance.
or tell me a way.

I am almost certain that I would not join. I am not a religious fanatic or anything but I think you have to consider the differences in the time we live in now and the time when the Illuminati were formed. Now, the church doesn't have as much power over the majority of the population. We, as a race, are more free thinking than ever before. In the times of Illuminati I believe it was necessary for such a group to exist, to spread the word of science. Now most people accept that science is a help not a hinderance to society so there is no need for a secret society to nuture great minds.

Thats just my opinion anyway. I can get a bit carried away sometimes! LOL
